3rd & 4th Grade

Ruth
Schian

My name is Ruth Schian, and I teach 3rd & 4th grade at Zion. I am a graduate of Concordia University – Chicago, with a degree in elementary education, along with my Lutheran Teacher Diploma. While at Concordia, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Cambridge, England, at the Lutheran seminary of Westfield House, which allowed me to have a concentration in religious studies. Since graduating, I have taught children of various ages, from preschool through 8th grade. In 2019, I completed my Master’s in Educational Design and Technology through Concordia University in Wisconsin. After several years as a church & school office administrator, I am excited to be back in the classroom!

I am a Hoosier by birth, but God has transplanted me from Indiana to New York and now to Michigan as my husband serves as pastor at Grace Lutheran Church in Auburn. What a blessing to be able to take root here! In the light of God’s Son, Jesus, this is a place where we grow in faith and love together. May we ever stay connected to Christ and bear good fruit!

I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
