Third and fourth grade is a fun class to be in! Not only do we get to learn about Michigan History, Ecosystems, Multiplication and Division, we also get to learn how to do research and write papers, and lets not forget about all of the reading we get to enjoy daily! My goal for every student in my class is to have fun learning, ask questions, work hard, and want to be a life-long learner. Another goal in our class is to encourage independence and to give students the responsibility to take control of their learning and set goals for themselves.
In 4th grade, students will have two teachers during the day. Mrs. Schain teaches religion, social studies, and science when combined with the 3rd graders. For math and language arts; the 4th graders will split off and go to Mrs. Panzner’s room for those subjects.

My name is Ruth Schian, and I teach 3rd & 4th grade at Zion. I am a graduate of Concordia University – Chicago, with a degree in elementary education, along with my Lutheran Teacher Diploma. While at Concordia, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Cambridge, England, at the Lutheran seminary of Westfield House, which allowed me to have a concentration in religious studies.
